Professor Geoffrey Hinton receives Ulysses Medal, UCD’s highest honour

We were honoured to be part of this event hosted on the 8th April 2024 celebrating the research of AI pioneer, Professor Geoffrey Hinton, who was awarded UCD Ulysses Medal. He took time to meet students and researchers in an ‘Ask me anything’ session and responded to Dr Andrew Hines¬†citation in an engaging and thought provoking way on the future of AI and the challenges it poses to society. Professor Hinton is considered to be the ‘Godfather of AI’ after spending a lifetime teaching computers to learn. ML-Labs Directors Dr Georgiana Ifrim, Dr Brian MacNamee and Dr Andrew Hines, ML-Labs PI and Director of Research, Innovation and Impact at the UCD School of Computer Science are pictured above with Professor Hinton.
